The Foundry is an adaptive reuse project on a heritage site called the Paisley Mills. The now out of service grain mill was once an important part of the Town of Paisley. The Foundry repurposes the building into a farmers’ market, helping connect the community it helped nurture. With a focus on reuse, the original structure was kept intact, and wherever possible, original materials were left.
Interiors have been refurbished and, where rooms have been added, heavy timber construction has been used to accentuate the original architecture. Pavilions host local goods to create a community market that changes with the seasons. The second floor is an eatery providing a scratch kitchen paired with a seating area on the third floor, allowing guests to view the surrounding area. This aesthetic is meant to recreate the feeling of walking into the town of Paisley while exploring the multiple storefronts.
